There are so many cars on the road that have no unique aspects.  There are many accessories that can customize your car such as an aftermarket hood. Some people aren't sure of what you can get out of changing out your hood with a different style or material.

So in most cases a new hood style will improve the cosmetics of your car, but a hood can also help with improving the performance of your vehicle as well.  This is done by reducing the weight of the car by replacing your factory hood with a hood that contains materials that don't weigh nearly as much.  These materials can be carbon fiber also known as fiber reinforce polymer, or your hood can be made from fiberglass which is a little heavier than carbon fiber but less than they factory one.

Carbon fiber hoods are the most popular hood replacements seen on performance cars.  Usually for their light weight aspects, but they have a great look to them as well. Carbon fiber hoods are manufactured by utilizing sheets of carbon fiber materials in a form that introduced a polymer plastic resin with a vacuum.  This process is called vacuum infusion. A Carbon Fiber hood can look great on any car but there are some colors that look better than others.  Combine a carbon fiber hood with white, cobalt blue, silver, or red and you can have one of the coolest styles on the road.

Some of these hood types will have built in hood scoops to allow cooler air into the engine compartment to help with the engines ability to produce power.  The hood scoops look great as well as have functionality.

Installing a hood doesn't have to be hard but you do need to make sure you do it carefully to ensure a quality fit and alignment.  Hood pins are recommended when you upgrade your hood regardless of material.
